Election within six months is unrealistic, impossible: Sarjis Alam

Supporting the interim government’s decision, Sarjis said the government has suggested a deadline of mid-2026, while there are also discussions about December 2025 or January 2026.

“We will not disagree on any reasonable issue. But if the deadline has been set in June this year then it is illogical. Transparent elections require significant reforms in the Election Commission, judiciary and law enforcement agencies. We believe that if we go to the elections only after reforms, the aspirations of the people will be fulfilled.

Regarding a proclamation on the July Uprising, Sarjis noted widespread demand from the grassroots for formal recognition of the rebellion. “We are confident that the announcement will be made public soon.”
