Since assuming charge, the Commission has consistently urged 44 registered parties to participate in the elections. The Election Commissioner said, it still urges them to participate in the electoral process and ensure free, fair and inclusive elections.
Asked whether BNP’s non-participation would impact the elections, Anisur Rahman said media reports indicated participation of 70 per cent of political parties.
If 70 percent parties contest the elections then there is no reason why the elections should be affected.
He reiterated that the elections will not wait for anyone and will be held on time due to constitutional obligations.
