Anamul was the second-highest run-scorer in the last edition of the List-A competition Dhaka Premier League (DPL). He scored 834 runs in 16 matches for Abahani at an average of 59.57 and a strike rate of 97.31. He also scored three centuries in that season.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin said the selection panel picked Anamul for his good form and his ability to keep wickets, “He (Anamul) was one of the leading run-scorers in domestic cricket and we kept him under observation in the Bangladesh Tigers program . In Liton’s absence, we needed a top-order batsman who could also keep wickets. That’s why we are giving a chance to Anamul.”
