England’s ‘Baseball’ will face its toughest challenge yet in India series

India recently drew a two-match Test series in South Africa before handing Afghanistan a 3-0 Twenty20 international defeat at home ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.

But at home on the turning track they are a different proposition.

Top players including captain Rohit Sharma will be back in Test mode in the matches, which will lead to points for the World Test Championship.
India is at second place after Australia in the championship table.

England are ranked eighth and will need a win in the India series if they are to play the final at Lord’s next year.

With spin expected to be so important, India are banking on the experience of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. His combined number of Test wickets is 765.

On the batting front, India will miss Kohli’s absence in the first two matches, but he is expected to return in the third Test.

Kohli averages 56 in Test matches against England in India, which includes three centuries.

The series will be an opportunity for emerging players including Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat to prove their mettle in the longer format.
