The six priority recommendations include a comprehensive revision of the electoral legal framework, the introduction of stronger campaign financing regulations and oversight, the introduction of affirmative action to increase women’s participation in public and political power, as well as comprehensive reforms to promote a safe digital environment.
The Mission also recommends that the Election Commission take steps to ensure transparency at all stages of vote tabulation and consider expanding postal voting eligibility to other categories of voters.
The EU EOM was present in Bangladesh between 28 December 2025 and 4 March 2026, consisting of 223 international observers from all EU Member States, Canada, Norway and Switzerland, deployed to all 64 administrative districts of Bangladesh.
