Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahim, Joint Commissioner of Customs, was the convenor of the committee. The committee had representatives from Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Container Depot Association, BM Depot and Custom Bond Commissionerate as members.
Bodruzzaman Munshi, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Customs, told Prothom Aalo, “This committee was formed to determine the total loss of export goods in the blast. The committee has prepared the draft of the report. Very soon the final report will be submitted to the authorities.”
In 2011, a Bangladeshi and a Dutch company together invested a total of 1.5 billion Tk (150 crore Tk) to open a BM depot.
Dutch national Robert Pronk is the chairman of BM Depot and Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh is the managing director. Mujibur Rahman, Managing Director, Smart Jeans, is the director of the depot.
