Several relevant sources say that Ghazi Mozammel started buying lands in 2006. A year later, he formed the ‘Anand Police Family Welfare Multipurpose Cooperative Society’ with some retired and serving police officers. After this, he started a real estate business named Police Housing Society. Ghazi Mozammel is the project director.
Police Headquarters has confirmed that the police does not have any project by this name.
Several relevant sources say that the word ‘Police’ was deliberately used in the name of the project for commercial gain. Former IGP Benazir Ahmed also has a plot in this project, which has already been seized by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Many police officers and their relatives are also among those who bought plots in the Police Housing Society. There is also an allegation of not handing over the land to the buyers even after making full payment. At least 10 police officers of different levels made such allegations.
There is also an allegation of forcibly occupying the land for the project. Many victims from Rupganj said that project officials forcefully grabbed their land. When he protested, he was also beaten up. Moreover, false extortion and fraud cases were registered to harass them.
