According to police sources, Kala Babu had campaigned for Enamul Haq during the 11th parliamentary elections. He led the assassination of Chanchal Kumar, the then vice-president of the Municipal Jubo League and a supporter of Abul Kalam Azad, on 1 December 2018, ahead of the 11th parliamentary elections held on 30 December that year. A case of murder was registered over the murder, but Kala Babu later got bail.
Leaders and workers of various political parties said that Kala Babu is known as a henchman of MLA Enamul Haq. The MLA made Kala Babu the general secretary of the Upazila Krishak League unit. On 17 December, Mahabur Rahman, who is the member secretary of the vote center committee of the Nao candidate, was beaten with a hammer. Kala Babu led the event.
Local leaders and activists reported that Prothom Alo extremists, led by Art Babu Kshetra, are active in the Bagmara area, and are joining the election campaign with the MLA. A group of extremists led by Art Babu joined a street rally of Enamul Haq in Auchpara Union Parishad in December and attacked Khandakar Shaila Parveen, wife of boat candidate Abul Kalam Azad, at one point in the election campaign. A complaint was lodged in the local police station regarding the incident.
