Fierce fighting is reportedly going on in Rakhine state between the Myanmar army and the armed group Arakan Army. On Monday, the sound of gunshots was heard in Naikhongchhari of Bandarban, bordering Myanmar. Fragments of mortar shells from Myanmar fell near the zero line of the border.

Local public representatives said that the firing in the Myanmar area of ​​the border has frightened the people of Bangladesh. Five primary schools adjacent to Ghumdhum border were closed yesterday.

Naikhongchari Upazila Primary Education Officer Triratan Chakma told Prothom Alo that teachers from schools along the border reported the firing in Myanmar. Later the authorities closed Tumbru Government Primary School, Baishfari, Ghumdhum, Bhajabaniya and West Ghumdhum primary schools at around 1 pm yesterday.
