Amidst the scorching heat, fire has been seen inside the Sundarbans today.
Fishermen noticed the fire in the mangrove forest near Amurbuniya area of Chandpai range in the afternoon. Forest department officials and local people are busy extinguishing the fire.
Assistant Conservator of Forests, Chanpai Range, Rana Deb confirmed the fire to Prothom Alo and said they were working to extinguish the fire.
After hearing the news, Mohammad Abu Taher Mia, a member of Nishanbaria union council under Morelganj upazila in Bagerhat, went to the site of the fire along with the local people.
