Regarding the matter, M Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist of Cox’s Bazar office of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said that the meteorologists of Dhaka were sent videos and photographs of the lights seen from Laboni Point of Cox’s Bazar and their comments were sought. He said that this is not a weather related incident.
When asked about the matter, Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) MD Wahidur Rahman said he was not aware of the details of the missile-shaped flashing lights seen over the Bay of Bengal.
He said it appeared to be a missile based on what he saw on social media, but he did not know why it was launched or who launched it.
