Legendry folk singer Baul Karim Shah died at his district town residence on Tuesday morning. He was 90.
Earlier, he had been admitted to Kushtia Medical College Hospital with asthma problems on April 24 and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
After receiving treatment there, he went back to Kushtia on Saturday last.
He breathed his last at his house at about 8:30am.
Baul Karim Shah received the Ekushey Padak in 2011.
In a condolence message, Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Nur expressed deep shock at the death of the singer.
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family members.
