Food security and vulnerability require long-term preparation

One reason for this is the appreciation of the dollar. We are currently dealing with the situation by reducing imports.

While this may provide momentary gains, it could create problems in the long run, economists and traders warn. If the import is less than the demand, then definitely the market price will go up.

What is the way out of this situation? Firstly, increase the supply of food items to the poor people at low cost. Second, strengthen market monitoring activities.

Despite the fall in prices in the global market, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted that the prices of consumer goods may rise in the next few quarters. So there is no scope for relief.

The Russia-Ukraine war, which sent shockwaves across global markets, is showing no signs of abating anytime soon.

In such a situation, along with the expectation of a better situation, long-term preparations have to be made to deal with the worse situation.
