In this connection, Asaduzzaman Miya told Pratham Alo that out of the 21 kattha land in Aftabnagar, he owned seven kattha and the remaining land was owned by his two sisters-in-law.
The former police officer claimed that he had never committed any irregularities in his professional life, but a gang had filed a charge against him with the ACC several years ago to threaten him. Later, the ACC found that the charge was not true, and now the gang has become active again to threaten him.
However, ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam said that the information published in the media about Asaduzzaman Mia's property should be confirmed. He told Prothom Alo on Monday night that information about immovable properties owned by a government service holder and his family members in Dhaka and several districts has been published, and this has raised many questions among the public. The sources of this property should be traced through a detailed investigation and action should be taken if discrepancies are found between property and income.
This report was published in the online edition of Prothom Alo and was rewritten in English by Hasanul Banna.
