Locals said a group of miscreants opened fire on Abdullah and Rakib in Poddar Bazar area at around 10 pm on Tuesday, injuring them critically.
He was taken to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Abdullah brought dead.
Anwar Hussain Abdullah, the resident medical officer of the hospital, was already dead when he was brought here. After first aid, we referred Rakib to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
However, the former BCL leader succumbed to his injuries while being taken to DMCH, he said, adding that both had bullet injuries in the head and mouth.
