Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan, in his first public appearance since being injured in a gun attack earlier this month, said on Saturday that he was withdrawing his protest march to Islamabad as he feared it would create havoc in the country. Will go

Since being ousted from power in April, Khan has been leading nationwide protests to press for the government to hold early elections. The protests were to culminate in a march to Islamabad, threatening to escalate political turmoil in the nuclear-armed country battling an economic crisis.

Addressing a gathering of thousands of supporters in Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, Khan said, “I have decided not to go to Islamabad because I know there will be devastation and the country will suffer.”
