As per the details of the case, the victim worked as an employee at Khulna Agricultural University in 2021. The then vice-chancellor Shahidur Rahman lived alone on the fifth floor of a rented administrative building in Sonadanga area of the city. As there was no provision of food, the registrar asked the lady to arrange food for the vice-chancellor.
The married woman started delivering food to Shahidur every day. Taking advantage of the situation, the former VC urged her on several occasions. The victim complained about the matter to the registrar. On the evening of 16 December 2021, when the victim went to deliver food, the then VC raped her in a pre-planned manner with the help of the registrar.
The woman finally divorced her husband after receiving a marriage proposal from Shaheedur. Later he refused to marry her and the woman approached the court.
