Teknaf beach is crowd free and much calmer and cooler as compared to Cox’s Bazar. It is fast becoming popular with both tourists and locals. An eco-friendly restaurant made entirely of bamboo and wood. It is so close to the beach that you can sit in the restaurant and enjoy the sea breeze. It is the perfect place to spend a lovely evening with friends and family. The sunset from Teknaf beach is stunning, and it is a good spot for those who like to take pictures.
Zahidul Islam, a development professional focused on child protection who has lived in Teknaf for more than four years, says he still misses many of the things Teknaf has, such as the quiet beach, the Naf River, fresh fish and St. Not to mention Martin Island. He added one more thing which surprised him; Locals in Teknaf do not care about the price of things when buying, especially fish, meat or vegetables. They just pick and pay without any bargaining. This is unusual for people outside Teknaf and is one of the reasons why prices of things are comparatively high in Teknaf.
The Long Wharf on the Naf River is another beautiful place that people frequent, and I loved going there often. From the jetty, one can get a good view of the calm, pristine Naf River and the high mountains of Rakhine State. If one goes to the end of the ghat, he will find himself almost in the middle of the river. The water becomes very pleasant when the reflection of the blue sky falls on it, and when the rays of the sun fall on it at noon it appears to shine like pearls. Often people sit on the jetty and hook big fishes which is also amazing to see.
