A major topic of the meeting outside Paris was Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a major energy and trade barrier that has caused global energy prices to rise.

“We reiterated the absolute necessity of permanently restoring safe and toll-free freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement said.

At their meeting, the ministers focused on efforts to mitigate “global economic shocks, such as disruptions in economic, energy, fertilizer and commercial supply chains, which have a direct impact on our citizens”, he said.
