Ganga Vilas, the world’s longest river cruise feature, is set for its maiden voyage of 3,200 km from Varanasi in India’s Uttar Pradesh to Assam via Dhaka.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the cruise from Varanasi before taking passengers on a tour of the rivers of Bangladesh and India in 51 days.
Passengers will get an opportunity to visit 50 historically and structurally important places during the journey.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Modi said, “This is a unique opportunity to reconnect with our cultural roots and discover the beautiful aspects of India’s diversity.”
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said: “Moving through 27 river systems, it will cover a distance of over 3200 km in 50 days from Varanasi to Dibrugarh via Bangladesh along the Indo-Bangladesh protocol routes.”
