The cyclonic storm ‘Giri’ over northeast Bay and adjoining area is moving towards Myanmar.

Chittagong port is advised to show danger number 4 .Cox’s Bazar has been advised to keep hoisted danger signal number five.

While crossing the coast the cyclone, under its influence and full moon phase, the low lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar may have tidal waves of 6to 8 feet high, other parts of Chittagong, Noakhali, Feni, Laxmipur, Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali and their off shore islands and chars are likely to face wind driven tides of 4 to 6 feet higher than normal astronomical tide

It was centered at 9:00am on Friday about 405 kms south of Chittagong port, 310 kms south of Cox’s Bazar port and 515 kms south-southeast of Mongla port, said a special bulletin of Met office on Friday.

The storm is likely to intensify further and cross the Cox’s Bazaar-Myanmar coast and south of Teknaf by afternoon today (Friday), the bulletin added.

The met office also told that the weather may be stormy and gusty wind may blow due to the influence of this cyclone.
