After the meeting, JAPA presidium member Shafiqul Islam and vice president Yahya Chowdhury were relieved of all their posts. Furthermore, the party said in a statement on Sunday that president GM Quader has dissolved the Dhaka North City unit of JAPA on the recommendation of the party general secretary.
JPA fielded a total of 265 candidates in the 12th parliamentary elections. It held talks with the ruling party on 26 electoral seats. However, Japa candidates won only in 11 constituencies. Moreover, almost 90 percent of the party’s candidates lost their security deposits. Such annihilation in the elections led to chaos within Japan. Meanwhile, on Sunday, two party leaders were expelled from the party.
Earlier on Friday, JPA had expelled influential leader and co-chairman Qazi Firoz Rashid and presidium member Sunil Shubho Roy.
