Referring to the election results, GM Quader said, “The National Parliament acts as a gathering place of all parties and ideas. Here the ruling party is on one side and the opposition party is on the other. According to post-poll calculations, at least 75 percent of the seats belong to the ruling party, while 21 percent are independent but mostly associated with the ruling party. Only 3 to 4 percent members are from the opposition.
In the 12th national elections the Jatiya Party managed to win only 11 seats, although it had negotiated with the ruling party, Awami League, for 26 constituencies. The 11 seats he won were all negotiated seats.
