Idris Sheikh was an employee of various jewelery shops for a long time. He had opened a jewelery shop ‘Sagor Jewellers’ in the Mohammadpur agricultural market of the capital seven months ago, but his shop was burnt to ashes in the fire that broke out in the market in the early hours of Thursday.
Since his jewelery shop was in the middle of the market, Idris Shaikh could not recover anything from his shop. He was seen crying in front of the market.
“There was gold worth 15 million taka at my shop. This was my last item. Nothing was left, all the savings of my life were burnt to ashes. I lost my life. Unless the government compensates me, I will not survive,” said Idris Shaikh, crying.
