According to the rules, if any departmental case is registered against any officer or employee, then the concerned department seeks advice from BPSC.
The latest BPSC report showed that the highest number of such cases, 123, were registered in 2016, while the second highest number of 114 cases was registered last year.
Analysis of the BPSC's advice revealed that the Commission agreed in most cases while disagreeing on a very few occasions. For example, in 2014 the BPSC dissented in nine cases, the highest in number. The number of such cases was four in 2021 while three each in 2015, 2016 and 2020.
“When a file is sent to the BPSC after a departmental case is registered, the Commission examines the allegations, reply of the accused, testimony of witnesses, investigation report, show cause notices and replies thereon and the decision of the concerned authority. accused. Besides, the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979 are also consulted,” said a PSC official.
