According to expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry sources the government within next one or two months will set the immigration cost that the recruiting agencies can charge for sending students and workers abroad.
At present severe complexities are prevailing in the country over immigration cost. A committee have been formed to scrutinise the cost. On basis of the committee report, the immigration charge is going to be finalized by next one or two months
The secretary also said the government will form an “expatriate welfare bank” by next April to provide financial help to the poor and skilled workers.
Dr Zafar was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on “Immigration cost of immigrant workers” organised by the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agency (BAIRA) at a city hotel yesterday.
