Government’s focus now on creating dummy voters: Moin Khan

Moin Khan said, the way the government has resorted to violence to show artificial voting percentage in a meaningless election being held against the wishes of the people, is morally anti-people and politically childish. Their planned misguided effort was not only tarnishing the reputation of Bangladesh but also making the elections a symbol of the shamelessness and bankruptcy of the exploitative ruling class. Their manipulation to show high voter turnout was now obvious to international stakeholders, as was evident in foreign news media coverage.

BNP standing committee member Moin Khan further said, MPs who voted during the night are now roaming around, threatening thousands of beneficiaries that they will lose their financial benefits if they do not come to vote. Allowances are an ongoing process under all governments, but now the Awami League is using it to force people to go to polling stations. It is being said that if they do not vote on January 7, their allowances and benefits will be stopped.

Moin Khan said that central and local leaders of Awami League have already started confiscating the cards of beneficiaries in many areas as part of their strategy of using force. They are also going door-to-door threatening people that unless they go to the polling stations and vote openly, their cards will not be returned. Local administration is also being used to force people to vote by using various benefits as a tool.
