Govt. to cut trees form national highway

A country should have at least twenty percent of its area for forest. But Bangladesh has only eight percent forest. In the year 2010 the government decided that it will not cut trees from national forest before 2015.

But as population have increased and traffic on the highways have increased. Many experts have been urging the government to expand highways. They think four lane highways with road divider are essential to prevent head to head collision.

Now the government has decided to expand Joydevpur-Mymensingh highway. But the authority has to cut more than five thousand trees form national park to implement the project. Equal number of trees will be planted after the implementation of the project.
