Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam said that after this the government changed the law to avoid complications.
BERC does face some problems, for example, Anwarul said, sometimes it is not able to coordinate properly on an urgent basis in case of urgent need.
Asked whether the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources would be able to change fuel prices at any point of time, he said, “BERC will do it at normal times, the ministry will do it under special circumstances.”
He said the government is also examining whether private companies should be allowed to import all types of fuel and sell them in the domestic market.
