When asked about the issue, Grameenphone Head of Communications Khairul Bashar said, “At 11:45 am on Thursday we noticed some issues with the Grameenphone network. Fiber optic cables were cut at three places in Tangail and Sirajganj, causing problems.
Of the 180 million mobile SIM users in Bangladesh, about 79.3 million or 42 percent are Grameenphone customers. Many of them are now affected by the outage.
