At this time of the year, the reservoirs of the Sylhet region no longer hold the huge water reserves seen during the monsoon. As water recedes, farmers cultivate Boro paddy on open land. The rippling waters of the Haor have now given way to green waves. When seen from a distance the landscape appears newly decorated. Rice sprouts emerging from the muddy soil promise a new season, while the expansive greenery reflects the labor and aspirations of farmers.
