The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) condemned the alleged attacks, saying that they “severely damaged” a Red Crescent training center within al-Amal hospital.
“Today’s bombing is unprovoked. Gaza’s health system is already on its knees, with health and aid workers increasingly hampered in their efforts to save lives due to hostilities,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X.
UN agencies have expressed concern over Gaza’s growing humanitarian crisis, with 2.4 million people under siege, most of them displaced and huddling in shelters and tents during the winter rains.
WHO has warned of the risk of famine and disease with minimal aid arriving.
On Tuesday, the UK said a British ship had delivered the first 87 tonnes of aid for Gaza – including thousands of thermal blankets – from the Mediterranean island of Cyprus to Egypt, which proposed the sea corridor initiative.
“Hamas people are hiding in their homes and tunnels, while we are not getting food or drink and are dying of cold. I have an infant, I can’t bring him diapers or baby formula,” said Wojud Kamal al-Shinbari, who like many Gazans left for Rafah in Gaza’s far south.
