Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is returning to Bangladesh on Thursday after an 11-day visit to the US.
“She is scheduled to leave New York at 11:20am local time (9:20pm BdST) on Wednesday and arrive in Dhaka around 8pm (BdST) on Thursday,” her press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters on Wednesday.
Hasina left Dhaka on Sep 17 to attend the 66th United Nations General Assembly.
She presented a people’s empowerment-based, peace-centric development model at the assembly on Sep 24 which she said “is inspired by her own life-time experiences”.
She attended meetings with heads and ministers of several countries, and took part in programmes on prevention of terrorism, infectious diseases, women’s empowerment and food security.
The prime minister received South South Award for her role in developing living standard of women and children by using information technology.
She also underwent a medical check-up in the US.
