Sheikh Hasina has vowed that her party will continue to work for the betterment of the country’s citizens and will never leave them, after saying that historically the Awami League has always been with the people.
The prime minister made the remarks at a grand rally organized jointly by the party’s Rajshahi district and metropolitan wings at the city’s madrassa ground on Sunday.
“I would like to address those who keep saying that the Awami League will not survive. Well, Awami League never ran and will never run. Awami League always works for the people. it’s yours [BNP] When push comes to shove, leaders run away,” Hasina, chairperson of Bangladesh’s ruling party, said at the rally, pointing to BNP leaders.
Referring to the situations after 1975 and 2007, Hasina said despite knowing the risks, she came back to the country to serve the people.
