According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandker Golam Farooq, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina faces a greater risk to her life than most of her foreign counterparts.

He told reporters on Friday that in view of the high risk, heavy security arrangements have been made at Suhrawardy Garden in Dhaka for the 22nd National Council of the Awami League.

Awami League chief Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the convention at 10.30 am on Saturday. Thousands of leaders and workers of the ruling party from across the country will participate in this programme.

“All necessary security measures have been implemented in view of the risks [to the prime minister’s security], The Prime Minister’s life is always in danger. There have been several attempts on his life before. That’s why we always give top priority to his safety.”
