The 45-year Sri Lankan has been released from his position in Australian domestic cricket for this cause
Former Sri Lankan cricketer Chandika Hathurusinghe, who is now a domestic cricket coach in Australia, is likely to become the new coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team.

The former assistant coach of Sri Lanka has been released from his duties as head coach of Sydney Thunder, for what the club said to join Bangladesh Cricket Team.

The announcement was made in a press release of the Sydney Thunder issued on Monday.

However, an official announcement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is still due and is likely to come on Monday afternoon.

Thunder General Manager Nick Cummins praised Hathurusinghe’s work with the team. “It is a great opportunity for him and a great recognition of his skills and personal qualities.”

Earlier, Shane Jurgensen resigned from his position as the head coach for the Tigers after poor team performance in the Asia Cup and Twenty20 World Cup in Dhaka.

In his resignation letter to the BCB, Jurgensen said he was irked by comments in the media by some directors of the board who preferred for a batting-oriented coach.
