The 15 km stretch of road from Jhenaidah town to Kaliganj had formed several mounds of displaced bitumen due to the pressure of heavy vehicles. The road has completely deteriorated at many places including Chutalia, Tentultala, Bishaikhali, Gariwala, Koyargachhi and Khoyartala.
The result is that drivers have to struggle a lot to drive on this rough road. Especially small vehicle drivers are facing the most problems. Small vehicles often stumble into ditches and dunes and overturn. This road has become a death trap for motorcyclists.
According to local people, the Roads and Highways Department sometimes demolishes elevated stretches as well. However, it returns to its previous state within just two to four days. The condition of the road has now become so bad that small vehicles cannot ply on this road. These vehicles are using alternative roads.
