After this the court asked, the question is whether the woman died in custody? The Attorney General said that she did not die in RAB’s custody, she died in the hospital.
The court had said then but she was in your custody. If there is any doubt you can detain but it should be done after due legal process.
At one stage of the hearing, speaking about a section of the Torture and Custodial Death (Prohibition) Act, 2013, Attorney General Amin Uddin said that a third party can file a case in court in case of torture.
Addressing the Attorney General, the court said, “The question to you is, is there a (legal) process for whatever violent or heinous crime a citizen commits. The point is that at the end of the day everything is due (legal) process.” Records say that when the victim was picked up apparently there was no case against her.
Then the Attorney General said that we will get the postmortem done next week. Then a clear picture can be obtained.
The court also said that everyone is asking whether she was a victim of harassment or not? The Attorney General said that there should be no such concept. The court said, of course, otherwise questions will arise regarding your office.
