NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A stormy start to Friday and the holiday weekend is here as a tropical wave moves in from the Gulf.
Heavy downpours caused localized street flooding for the duration of the Friday morning commute. The heaviest rain was concentrated on the south shore and near our coastal communities, with Metairie hit especially hard. Any rain will be capable of causing street flooding, so monitor those conditions as you travel.
We should catch a break in the rain by afternoon, as the heavier storms start to spread farther inland.
The rest of the holiday weekend and beyond looks like basic summer. Highs will be around 90 and a mixture of sun and storms can be expected each day.
There are no threats coming from the tropics through next week.
