Rana Dasgupta is also the General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Council and Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal. The ruling Awami League, in its 2018 election manifesto, had committed to creating a National Minorities Commission and enacting a special law for effective protection of minority rights. These pledges have not been implemented. In this context, leaders of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Council speak to Prothom Alo about the problems of religious and ethnic minorities in Bangladesh. The issue of upcoming elections was also discussed.
