“At least 112 madrassa students, 50 bank officials, 34 members of the mosque committee and 10 members of law enforcement agencies are involved in the counting process,” he said.

Magistrate Farhad said that even before the team started counting, it took 20 sacks to hold the local currency.

Parvez Miya, general secretary of the mosque committee and mayor of Kishoreganj municipality, said the money received from the donation is used to pay for the expenses of the mosque and the madrassa, orphanage and cemetery attached to the mosque.

“A new project has just been approved for the renovation of the mosque complex. The amount will be used there itself. It will also be used to support homeless people and poor students, as well as other local mosques, madrassas and orphanages.
