ICC gives demerit point to Mirpur’s ‘unsatisfactory’ pitch for Bangladesh vs New Zealand Test match

Generally pitches and outfields are divided into categories such as very good, good, average, below average, poor and unfit.

If a pitch or outfield falls below a certain grade, it is given a demerit point. If it is unsatisfactory it is given one demerit point, while if it is unplayable it gets three demerit points.

Earlier, ICC had given demerit point to Mirpur after the Test match against Australia in 2018, terming him as ‘below average’. In that match, 30 out of 38 wickets were taken by the spinners.
