Pakistan captain Salman Aga had said last week that the team would follow the government’s advice.

“Indian sport is not under our control. It was the government’s decision,” Aga said.

Bangladesh said in a statement that it “sincerely expresses its appreciation to the Pakistan Cricket Board, the International Cricket Council and all those involved for their positive roles in trying to overcome recent challenges”.

BCB President Aminul Islam said, “We are very impressed by Pakistan’s efforts to support Bangladesh during this period.

“Following my short visit to Pakistan yesterday and considering the upcoming outcome of our discussions, I request Pakistan to play the ICC T20 World Cup match against India on February 15 for the benefit of the entire cricket ecosystem.”

India and Pakistan only play each other in multi-national events like the World Cup or Champions Trophy.
