ICT-1 to deliver verdict on June 28 in Rampura killings case

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) is set to deliver its verdict on June 28 in a case filed against five former police officers over the killing of two people and the shooting of two others in Rampura during the July 2024 uprising.

The tribunal set the date of verdict delivery in the crimes against humanity today.

Former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Habibur Rahman is among the accused in the case.

The other accused are former additional deputy commissioner of DMP’s Khilgaon Zone Rashedul Islam, former Rampura Police Station officer-in-charge Mashiur Rahman, former sub-inspector Tarikul Islam Bhuiyan, and former assistant sub-inspector of Rampura police outpost Chanchal Chandra Sarkar.

Of the five accused, only Chanchal is currently in custody. The remaining four are absconding.
