IGP Chaudhry Abdullah Al-Mamun spoke to the media after inaugurating Police Plaza, a state-of-the-art shopping center built on the initiative of Bangladesh Police Welfare Trust in Bogura on Saturday.
The IGP remarked, the police is committed to maintaining normal law and order situation ahead of the next Parliament elections. “We are performing our duties under the Election Commission. In the present times, the capacity of police to perform their duties has increased significantly.
The police have adequate logistics and human resources; Police members are also ready to perform their duty. If people’s life and property are harmed before the elections, the police will take action.
Asked whether the police were purchasing two million rubber bullets to stop anti-government forces ahead of the elections, IGP Chaudhry Abdullah al-Mamun said that was not the case. This is an ongoing process as gear is purchased every year for the police. He stressed that these are not being purchased keeping any specific program in mind.
