The Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 in collaboration with United Nations Bangladesh and Local Consultative Group on Women Advancement and Gender Equality (LCG Wages) on 10 March 2026.
The event, held at the British Council, brought together Dhaka University students, policy makers, academics and development agencies to reflect on this year’s IWD global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls”, according to a press release.
Minister of State for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, who inaugurated the event and participated as the chief guest, said, “It is the duty of every Bangladeshi – in every home, street, neighborhood – as well as the duty of the government through institutions – to change the overall attitudes and cultural sensitivities.”
