IMF urges Bangladesh Bank to disclose full report on banks' financial condition

In the meeting, the IMF wanted to know whether the Central Bank's inspection of the financial health of the banks is continuing or not. Clarification has also been sought as to whether the inspection reports are communicated to the customers or not.

Besides, the IMF delegation suggested increasing the quality and number of inspections to prevent irregularities, corruption and loan scams, sources said.

When asked about the meeting with Bibi, Bibi's executive director and spokesperson Maseboul Haq said meetings with the IMF were ongoing. This meeting will be held in a phased manner till May 8. He declined to comment further and said details would be given in the future.
