In the third incident of alleged assault involving educational institutions in the district in less than two weeks, a headmaster allegedly thrashed the chairman of the school’s governing body in Kurigram.
The latest incident took place in Roumari on Monday evening after the headmaster of Barbandha Government Primary School, Abul Kashem, was accused of embezzlement by the chairman of the school committee, Monirul Islam.
Roop Kumar Sarkar, head of the Roumari police station, said Monirul lodged a complaint later that night.
Monirul, who was undergoing treatment at Rowmari Upazila Health Complex on Tuesday, alleged that after taking charge last year, he came to know that Kashem had siphoned off Rs 275,000 from a joint bank account signed by Ayub Ali, former chairman of the committee. Taka was embezzled.
