According to data from the Dhaka Metro Politician (DMP), there has been a rise in murder, theft, dacoity and drug-related crimes in the capital.
However, there has been a decrease in the incidence of repression of women and children. But the incidents still remain worrying.
An analysis of the data of cases under DMP reveals that a total of 28,749 cases related to crime have been registered in 2022, which is 15 per cent more than the previous year.
Around 62,494 people have been arrested in connection with various crimes in the last year, while in 2021 such cases were around 50,000.
