Sanju Samson’s brilliant inning of 89 off 42 balls set the stage for India to post a mammoth score of 253-7 against England in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Mumbai on Thursday.
The in-form opener, who scored an unbeaten 97 against West Indies in the previous match, hit seven sixes and eight fours to thrill the home crowd at the famous Wankhede Stadium.
The hosts blasted the England attack in all parts of the ground, hitting 19 sixes and 18 fours, meaning Harry Brook’s men will have to chase a T20 World Cup record target of 254 runs to reach the final.
After Brooks won the toss and decided to bowl, Samson made his intentions clear by hitting a four and a six in the first over of Jofra Archer.
